John Sculley, the former CEO of Apple and present Chairman of RxAdvance talks about the different path of progress with tech-kings.

FREMONT, CA: Technology plays an important role in every industry and personally. The medical field is a vast area where technology plays a critical role in sustaining health.

The advancement is seen for years in medical fields from small innovations like adhesive bandages and ankle braces to larger and complex technologies like MRI machines, and robotic limbs; technology has made a great impact on the medical field.

As a great expansion is seen in the healthcare industry, the technology used by the industry rapidly advances. The future of healthcare technology is entering a new phase as the researchers, analytics and innovators struggle to improve the accessibility, cost of care and effectiveness.

Technology and humans have already joined hand in hand for better healthcare and are ready to innovate and cover the next milestone in the coming years. The best example of this advancement and mutual understanding is seen now, how technology transforms healthcare. Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Health wearable, trackers and sensors,  and many more.John Sculley, former CEO of Apple, and Chairman of RxAdvance, a cloud-based pharmacy, mentioned in Forbes, about the trends he observes shaping the future of healthcare technology and how best in industry companies are positioned to take credit of it.

• How the growth of medical-grade technology sensors will rule the healthcare domain

With an aging population, the need for better medical and facility infrastructure increases. Sculley stated that the need for advanced technology as a necessity too; to deal with the declining number of available hospital beds. With an increasing population and decreasing hospital facilities, he predicts will accelerate in the future. By the development of new technologies and sensors will help and provides clinically relevant medical feedback to doctors thereby expanding telehealth services and promise better care situations.

How healthcare “super users” will enhance the use of technology in the future

Having a population of around 32.72 billion, it is a well-known fact that United States healthcare spending is due to a smaller population. Sculley mentioned this issue as a “stressing the sustainability” of the healthcare system. The US healthcare due to the vast population finds it difficult to accommodate the patients in healthcare hospitals and clinics. The patients face the inaccessibility of healthcare for a large segment of people. Sculley writes a ready-made solution to minimize the admission of patients at hospitals by providing continuous care of chronically ill patients at home.

• How tech giants step forward and shape the future of medical technology

Tech giants like Amazon, Google, and Apple are confident to enable the technology future by integrating more medical equipment into their present technology. Sculley stated that Apple would deploy an Apple Health subscription service, which helps the users to connect the Apple Watch to physicians. Gene Munster of Loup Ventures and Sculley predicted the innovation by Apple. Morgan Stanley, an investment-banking firm predicts that Apple’s mobile health business could exceed $300 billion by 2027. Google, with Nest, connected home subsidiary to create subscription automated home care and services for chronic care patients. Last but not the least, Amazon with its Alexa Health division provides health services to patients directly via voice technology.

Healthcare technology is a vast area that cannot be summarized in a single piece of writing. The technologies yet to discover are underneath the carpet and not disclosed yet.
